Rainbow Six Siege is coming to mobile, expanding Rainbow Six to both Android and iOS gamers. They announced R6M on April 6, 2022, and shared their goal: “We know how exciting Siege matches are on big screens with mouse and keyboard precision. Since we can’t carry screens everywhere, this game lets you enjoy it in quick sessions on mobile. It’s a chance for millions to experience R6’s excitement.” And if you are eagerly anticipating Rainbow Six Mobile, here’s what we know about Rainbow Six Mobile so far.
What is Rainbow Six Mobile?
Rainbow Six Mobile is the first mobile game in the Rainbow Six franchise that is going to be developed. Being inspired by Rainbow Six Siege, it shares similar gameplay elements. It is a tactical first-person shooting game, currently under development by Ubisoft. Unlike any other famous first-person shooting game, Rainbow Six Mobile is unique in terms of gameplay mechanics.
This game heavily focuses on the player’s interaction with the environment. The game revolves around completing objectives in a close and action-packed environment. The environment is action-packed because the bullets can penetrate any type of obstacle, although the impact damage gets reduced after each successive penetration.
Gameplay
The game concept is similar to most of the well-known titles like Valorant and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. While it shares similarities with these games, Rainbow Six Mobile introduces several unique gameplay features that set it apart. The game places a strong emphasis on environmental destruction, offering an array of explosives for players to utilize. Each mode in the game requires a total of 10 players, with 5 players forming the attacking team and the remaining 5 players comprising the defending team. Presently, there are two game modes planned for release:
- Secure the area
- Bomb
Secure the Area
It is a 5v5 combat game where the attackers are tasked to locate a particular area in the map that contains Biohazard supplies. Once the area is located, the attackers then have to hold their positions inside it and secure the area. The role of defenders here is to stop them from securing the area. Since the attackers need to hold the area for 10 consecutive seconds, defenders can interrupt by entering the area. When defenders enter the area, the capturing timer stops, and the area becomes a contested area. There’s a time limit for both sides to complete their objectives. If the time runs out and the area is still contested, the game goes into overtime, and the first team leaving the contested area loses.
Bomb
This is a classic game mode. Here, attackers possess the defuser. There are two bomb sites on a map, and one bomb is planted at each site. Attackers are tasked with defusing any one of the bombs. They need to take the defuser to any one of the bomb sites and activate it. Once the defuser is activated, defenders get around 45 seconds to deactivate the defuser. Defenders win if they deactivate the defuser before time runs out, or they win if they eliminate all the attackers. Whereas attackers win if they successfully defuse any one of the bombs, or they win if they eliminate all the defenders.
In addition to this, you can expect the addition of other game modes like Team Death Match, Ranked Mode, and others in the future.
Trailer
Ubisoft unveiled three trailers for Rainbow Six Mobile, with the attached video being the initial announcement trailer. This was followed by trailers for pre-registration and closed beta phases. A key feature highlighted across these trailers is environmental destruction, underscoring its significance in the gameplay of Rainbow Six Mobile. Additionally, the trailers effectively sustained excitement from start to finish, thanks in part to the well-chosen background music.
Leaks So Far
The game had a closed alpha release on May 3, 2022, followed by a closed beta on September 12, 2022. As a result, there have been numerous leaks about the Rainbow Six Mobile.
